Kerala-Thiruvananthapuram
By Our Staff Reporter
The practice so far has been to announce the results by around May 25. However, concerted efforts of all those involved in the jobs relating to valuation, tabulation and the computerisation of marks, made it possible to release the results on May 15 this time. Unlike in previous years, arrangements had also been made to present the toppers in the examination at the press conference held here today to formally announce the results. The Minister for Education, Nalakath Soopy, who addressed the press conference, said that there was a decrease of 5,896 candidates compared to the previous year. There, however, is an increase of 4.23 per cent in the number of students who have been declared to have cleared the examination subsequent to the process of moderation. Except the revenue district of Thiruvananthapuram, all the other districts have registered an increase in pass percentage this year. In 256 schools in the State, all the candidates who appeared for the examination were successful. Of these, 13 are Government schools, 88 aided and 155, unaided. In 184 of these schools, the number of candidates presented was more than 50. There are 208 schools which presented more than 50 candidates at the examination. The Government High School, Achankovil, under the Punalur educational district in Kollam, recorded the lowest percentage of marks (8.33). The examinations were conducted from March 12 to 28, 2003. The answer papers were valued at 49 centralised valuation camps in different parts of the State. The laborious process of tabulation of marks was also conducted alongside, at the Pareeksha Bhavan here. Arrangements have been made to issue photocopies of answer books to candidates who apply for the same. The results of the Technical High School and Special School Leaving Certificate examinations too have been published.
