Dushyanth's supporters stage dharna

By Our Special Correspondent

Bangalore May 16. Supporters of the expelled State Youth Congress Vice-President, K.S. Dushyanth, held a noisy demonstration in front of the Congress Bhavan here this morning, demanding the removal of Dinesh Gundu Rao, MLA, from the presidentship of the party unit.

Mr. Dushyanth was expelled from the Youth Congress on Tuesday for bringing outsiders to a meeting and creating a disturbance. His supporters today presented a memorandum to the KPCC general secretaries, Abdul Wahab and Ramachandra, demanding the removal of Mr. Dinesh Gundu Rao from the presidentship. T

hey staged a dharna in front of the party office. Mr. Dushyanth was expelled on flimsy grounds, and there was no trouble at the Youth Congress meeting held on Tuesday, they contended.

The expelled Youth Congress worker presented a petition to the AICC President, Sonia Gandhi, in Delhi some days ago, demanding the removal of Mr. Gundu Rao.

Mr. Dushyanth belongs to Hulimavu on the outskirts of Bangalore.

There is a move in the Youth Congress to get him expelled from the Congress on grounds of indiscipline.

The KPCC President, B. Janardhana Poojary, has been laying emphasis on maintaining discipline in the Congress and has warned those violating it. But it has not stopped partymen from clashing among themselves as in Bellary in the presence of the former PCC President, Allum Veerabhadrappa, demonstrating against the Agriculture Minister, V.S. Koujalgi in Belgaum, and helping Opposition candidates corner prime posts in one or two zilla panchayats.

Only recently, some Congress councillors in Bangalore and an MLC staged a demonstration in front of the Congress Bhavan against the move to admit the independent MLA, V. Somanna, into the Congress Legislature Party as an associate member. There was a counter demonstration by councillors supporting Mr. Somanna's entry on the ground that without his assistance, the Congress candidate could not win the Bangalore South Lok Sabha seat.
