dated May 18 & 19, 1953: Goa's Resistance Fighters

Speaking in Bombay, Mr. Mario Rodrigues of the Goan People's Party, who escaped from a Portuguese jail in `Goa in March,' said, "The Goan resistance movement will go into direct action in the near future. I am confident that such action will get the support of the average Goan. I can say from personal experience among the peasantry and the common folk in Goa that the people are very united and are slowly getting organised through the self-sacrifice of a small band of workers. French and Portuguese Settlements are a misnomer in Free India, and the sooner they are liquidated the better it is.
