Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Union Cabinet's decision to set up a national judicial commission is welcome. But the commission should not have members with political affiliations. Only then can it function in a free and fair manner. If it is necessary to appoint such a person, then his/her background should be thoroughly examined because the commission will play a key role in appointing judges. As the judiciary is the "watchdog of democracy", care must be taken while selecting its members.
