The officials said they had gone to evaluate the additional structures constructed at the ancestral property of the former Minister. Mr. Panneerselvam, who was Backward Classes Minister during the DMK regime, had extended the house in the front and put up extra rooms in the upstairs. The officials measured the length and breadth of the new constructions. Those who carried out the exercise included the Vigilance DSP, M. Viswanathan, and the Inspectors, R. Ambikapathy and Krishnasamy, accompanied by the PWD executive engineer, Raman. Later, talking to presspersons, Mr. Panneerselvam said the house was an ancestral property and was not built during his tenure as Minister.
