Gold dearer

Mumbai May 20. Gold prices shot up further by Rs. 95 per 10 grams at the opening session on the bullion market here today due to heavy stockists' buying in line with the steep rally in the global prices.

Pure gold (99.9 purity) resumed at a near four-month high of Rs. 5,725 as against the previous close of Rs. 5,635, while standard gold (99.5 purity) was quoted at Rs. 95 higher at Rs. 5,700 at the opening as against yesterday's close of Rs. 5,605. — PTI

In London, the yellow metal rallied to a three-month high of $360.35 an ounce on Monday as the U.S. dollar had fallen to a 52-month low against the euro, which generated panic buying in the safe-haven gold, dealers said.
