Muthu cremated

CHENNAI MAY 20 . The slain AIADMK functionary, V. Muthu, was today cremated at Kadaperi and an all-party condolence meeting was held there. Heavy police protection was provided to the funeral procession, which started from his home and culminated at Kadaperi, after passing through arterial roads of West Tambaram. Shops, which continued to down the shutters for the second day, opened in the evening. Muthu was hacked to death near his home at Lakshmipuram yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, has condoled the death of Muthu.

In a statement, Ms. Jayalalithaa said she was grieved after hearing about the murder of Muthu. She expressed her condolences to the bereaved family.
