School education official's warning

HYDERABAD May 20. The Commissioner and Director of School Education, Manmohan Singh, on Tuesday warned of cancelling recognition of private education colleges if they were found collecting more than the prescribed fee from students.

In a press release, Mr. Singh made it clear to the students not to pay more than Rs. 10,800 (Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 800 towards tuition and special fee) to the college managements. He also warned the college managements not to harass the students in the name of non-payment of excess fee. In addition to taking action under the A.P. Education Act 1 of 1982 and Act 5 of 1983, criminal cases would also be booked against erring colleges, he said.
