Photographs of eight victims of the carnage and the urns containing their last remains would be placed for the public to pay their last respects. The meetings would be addressed by leaders of Hindu organisations and religious leaders. The next day, the urns would be taken in procession and the remains submerged in holy waters after prayer meetings. The immersion rites would take place at Tiruvallam, Tirumullavaram, Aranmula, Trikkunnapuzha, Nagambadam, Nedumgandam, Aluva, Triprayar, Kalpathi, Tirunavaya, Varakkal, Tirunelli and Payyambalam. The Marad Hindu Raksha Samithy had decided to organise an intensive 12-day campaign throughout the State against religious fanaticism from May 25 to June 5. Family meetings, processions and distribution of literature on the dangers of religious fundamentalism would be organised. The decisions to observe Marad day and to organise anti-militancy campaigns were taken at a meeting attended by leaders of 38 Hindu organisations which was held here yesterday. Among the participants were representatives of NSS, SNDP Yogam, Viswa Karma Maha Sabha, Harijan Samajam and Brahmana Sabha. The Hindu Aikya Vedi chairman, Swami Sathyananda Saraswati, the general convener, J. Sisupalan, and other leaders like Kummanam Rajasekharan, M. Radhakrishnan and V.K. Krishnan, were authorised to organise the programmes.
