'Minister made many calls to poetess'

Lucknow May 21 . More evidence is reported to have surfaced in the case of the murder of the poetess, Madhumita Sharma, to whom the former Uttar Pradesh Minister, Amarmani Tripathi, had reportedly made telephone calls (as many as 35) during the last three days of her life.

Sources here say the printout of the details of the phone calls is in the possession of the Crime Branch-CID of the State police.

While Mr. Tripathi is said to have called her on 20 occasions, the poetess had called him up 12 times. Three of the calls were made on landlines.

The police have reportedly recovered some medical prescription either in the name of Mrs. A. M. Tripathi or Mrs. Madhumita Tripathi, the sources claim.

The investigating agency has quizzed the doctors who conducted the post-mortem examination of the deceased, and also the Station House Officer of Mahanagar, who had earlier investigated the case.

Meanwhile, questions are being raised over the fairness of the investigation, after the recent transfer of several senior police officials.
