LTTE revives demand

By V.S. Sambandan

COLOMBO May 21. Exactly a month after it snapped talks with Colombo, the LTTE today re-invoked its old demand for an interim administrative mechanism, with the lion's share for itself in governing Sri Lanka's Tamil majority north and east.

Dismissing a set of proposals, seeking to give them powers to carry out reconstruction work, as ``falling short of expectations'', the LTTE wanted the Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, to give a ``positive response'' to its leader, V. Prabakaran's interim administration demand if it was to resume talks and participate in next month's Tokyo donors' conference.
