Ministers, officials make themselves scarce

By Shujaat Bukhari

SRINAGAR MAY 24. Ministers and officials of the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Government are yet to present themselves at the Civil Secretariat, which moved here in the first week of May for the next six months.

There are long queues of people outside the Secretariat. Out of the 28 Ministers in the coalition only a few have come to the Secretariat and some of them have not even opened their chambers. The Deputy Chief Minister, Mangat Ram Sharma, and two others are the only exceptions.

The absence of Ministers has put the general public to inconvenience and has defeated the much-publicised healing touch policy of the Government.

Except for the Chief Secretary, Sudhir Beloeria, most of the Principal Secretaries and Commissioner/Secretaries were not in their offices either.
