Hizb for positive response

By Shujaat Bukhari

SRINAGAR MAY. 24. The Hizbul Mujahideen has said that it would positively respond to any initiative aimed at finding an everlasting solution to the Kashmir problem.

The Hizb's ``supreme commander,'' Syed Salahuddin, told a local news agency Current News Service (CNS) that ''if India is serious about resolving the problem, accepts the disputed nature of Kashmir and starts talks, the Hizb will give a positive response''. He, however, said that India should have to talk to Pakistan and Kashmiris silmultanously. ``We are not against dialogue'', said Salauhddin, who also heads the Pakistan-based United Jehad Council.

Responding to the reported restriction put on the Hizb by Pakistan following, the United States decision to put it on the ``terrorist watch list'', he said ``We won't allow anybody to curb our movement''. No group fighting for a just cause could be declared unlawful, he said.

The Hizb, he said, was the representive group of Kashmiris.
