The LJP president, Ram Vilas Paswan, had called on the Registrar-General here on Friday and requested him to expedite the data of 2001 Census and furnish the same to the Delimitation Commission. Mr. Paswan said the Registrar-General had explained that till now his organisation was engaged to meet the requirements of the Commission. Now, the organisation would be able to complete the request for fresh data by October 2003. The LJS chief said the intention of the Centre did not appear to be clear and that it might blame the Registrar-General of India for not furnishing the data to the Delimitation Commission thereby delaying its task beyond 2004 general elections. He said as per the delimitation exercise based on 1991 Census, the SC/ST communities were to get an increase in seats proportional to their population. ``However, this exercise was sought to be scuttled on various grounds by various forces in the government from time to time and this has resulted in denying the legitimate increase in SC/ST seas as per the entitlement.''
