Referring to the on-going agitation by the cane growers in the State, Mr. Singh said the State Government must ensure that the mills paid a fair price to the farmers. The crisis is one of the major issues now faced by Mr. Singh. In a related development, reports said, the BJP president of the State unit, Vinay Katiyar, who has embarked on ``nav chetna'' rally, faced widespread protest from farmers, who demanded a fair price for the sugarcane procured from them.
