Mr. Vikhe-Patil said he resigned yesterday after being replaced by fellow Sena-man, Subodh Mohite, in the Cabinet reshuffle. Denying rumours of differences of any kind with Mr. Thackeray or the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, he recalled that he received a phone call from the Shiv Sena chief while on his way to Pune and was told to put in his papers.. He said that he was not interested in State politics. and would rather remain in the Central political scenario, where he has been an MP since 1971. UNI
