Jakarta seeks Interpol help

JAKARTA may 26. Indonesian police on Monday said they have sent a ``red alert'' to Interpol, asking for help in arresting four exiled rebel leaders linked to the Free Aceh Movement, known as GAM.

The wanted men include Hasan di Tiro, a top rebel leader who heads an Acehnese government-in-exile in a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden.

``We are aware of their demands,'' Baktiar Abdullah, spokesman for the group told The Associated Press in Stockholm on Monday. ``They have lost all means of reason and judgment.''

Mr. Abdullah said he and his colleagues, all of them Swedish citizens, had no fear of arrest because of their citizenship and because they had broken no laws. ``We are honest middle class citizens making an honest living and paying our taxes,'' Mr. Abdullah said. ``We have integrated into Swedish society.'' — AP
