Moscow and Beijing attach great importance to the development of Russo-Chinese-Indian dialogue, said Mr. Alexander Yakovenko, official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry. He was commenting on a visit by the Chinese President, Hu Jintao, to Russia, which began on Monday. The interaction among Russia, China and India can become a useful format for strengthening international and regional stability and dealing with new threats and challenges, Mr. Yakovenko told reporters. Recalling that trilateral dialogue began with an informal meeting of the Russian, Chinese and Indian Foreign Ministers on the sidelines of the 57th U.N. General Assembly in New York last year, the Russian spokesman stressed that the three countries agree that they should continue the practice of holding such meetings. Trilateral cooperation among India, Russia and China gained momentum when the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, toured Beijing and Delhi in December. It may be discussed further when the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, travels to Russia later this week for the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of St. Petersburg. He is scheduled to hold separate meetings with the Presidents of Russia and China.
