Naxals kill TDP leader

By Our Staff Reporter

GUNTUR May 26. A TDP functionary was shot dead by naxalites in Arigoppala village in Durgi mandal of Guntur district in the late hours of Sunday. The watershed committee president, Nalabotula Ramanujam, 45, was taken to the outskirts of the village by four naxals and shot dead at point-blank range.

Arigoppala is known to be a naxal stronghold. The naxalites of the village reportedly gave the TDP functionary two warnings in the past.

Ramanujam shifted residence to another place after he received the threats, but his visits to the village became more frequent since his recent election to the watershed committee.
