'IBM official had applied for visa extension' Kuala Lumpur May 26. Bangalore-based IBM employee, Narendra Babu, who was detained here over the weekend for overstaying his visa, had applied for two weeks' extension on May 13. He presumed that the request was granted as he was not told anything by the Immigration Department when it returned him his passport. Neither does the stamp on the passport say anything clearly. ``We, at the airport are only concerned with the validity of documents and as per our check his visa had expired. We do not know why he was not given a special pass or told about the rejection,'' the Immigration Office official told PTI. ``However, according to procedures, we will send him back on Tuesday by Malaysian Airlines as he is holding a Malaysian Airlines ticket and the airline does not fly to Bangalore on Monday,'' he said. ``If he can get a ticket for some other airlines we can send him even earlier,'' he added. In New Delhi the IT and Communications Minister, Arun Shourie said today the detention of Mr. Babu could not be described as a case of singling out of Indian IT professionals, as the official was working for a global infotech company.
