Warrants against officials

New Delhi May 27. The National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes has issued arrest warrants against a Divisional Commissioner and Collector from Uttar Pradesh for defying its directive and failing to appear before it in a case relating to acquisition of land belonging to weaker sections.

``Hariraj Kishor, Commissioner, Vindhyachal, Division Mirzapur and V.K. Varshney, Collector, Sonbhadra district were summoned to the office of the Commission on April 7 and again on May 19 and they have not bothered to appear. Hence the Commission has issued arrest warrants to ensure their presence before it on June 12,'' the Commission Chairman, Bizay Sonkar Shastri, told PTI.
