Nearly 40 armed Grey Hounds personnel surrounded the PW State Committee member, Karamanchi Prasad and Papaghni dalam member, Sandhya, who went to drink water at a hillock near Sakibanda and shot them dead without any forewarning on May 23, he alleged. Two innocent shepherds were also shot at even though said they had came to graze cattle, he alleged. The cops demanded the injured shepherds to disclose their names and shot them dead, after sending Chinnappa Naidu, who sustained a bullet injury on his hand, he alleged. Prasad, who retreated, was shot dead, although the police could take him into custody, he alleged. Other guerrillas escaped while firing in self defence, he said. The police operation took place on getting information from an informer, who was offered a reward of Rs. 1 lakh, the PW leader alleged. Prasad was a revolutionary writer, who had worked in Virasam, and joined the PW for which he worked as secretary of Nellore and Prakasam districts, Nallamalla forest committee secretary and then became the State committee member in 2001. Sandhya was the Papaghni dalam member and deputy commander, he said.
