Regulatory order imposed

Pondicherry May 28. An order under the Police Act was brought to force today covering the police circles of Thavalakuppam, Nettapakkam, Tirukanur in Pondicherry (South). The Superintendent of Police, M.P. Muthaian, in a release, said the order would be in force for 15 days ending on June 11.

The SP said no organisation could convene meetings, stage demonstrations or any agitation without a valid licence obtainable at least 24 hours in advance. However, the order would not affect holding of government functions, religious programmes, ceremonies or funerals.
