BJP MP quits party, plans to float regional outfit

BANGALORE MAY 28. The BJP Lok Sabha member, Vijay Sankeshwar, representing the Dharwad North constituency announced today his decision to quit the party. He declared that he would be floating a regional political outfit.

Mr. Sankeshwar said he had already conveyed his decision to the State unit president, Basavaraj Patil Sedam..

According to Mr. Vijay Sankeshwar, the BJP in Karnataka was "sinking'' and attempts were not made to revitalise the party.

The name of the party and its symbol would be decided later following discussions with like-minded politicians. Mr. Basavaraj Patil Sedam, is yet to react. According to party sources, the leadership is trying to persuade Mr. Sankeshwar to retract his step.
