`Witch hunting' on Indo-Bangla border

Kolkata May 28. A people-to-people peace mission from India to Bangladesh has condemned ``witch hunting'' on the border and urged Governments of both countries to find rational solutions to the infiltration issue in keeping with the international human rights standards.

The mission to Dhaka, in which 34 leading women activists participated, said on its return here that the issue of movement of people across the borders, especially in South Asia, needed to be addressed with ``human understanding of economic and livelihood compulsions''. ``Rather than resorting to witch hunting, the Governments must resolve the issue with a human approach,'' the delegation member and chairperson of the West Bengal Commission for Women, told PTI.
