Govt. yet to discuss HC order on campus politics

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM MAY 28 . The Chief Minister, A.K. Antony, has said that the Government has not yet discussed the impact of the court order on campus politics. It has not yet received a copy of the verdict.

Mr. Antony told presspersons here today that he would like to comment on the demand for the Government to go on appeal against the court order only after examining the matter. He would remember that he himself was a political activist during his student days, Mr. Antony told a questioner.

He declined to comment on the political aspects of induction of P.C. Thomas as a Union Minister of State by the BJP, though he was elected with UDF votes. ``Let the party functionaries comment on that. As to the Government, it will cooperate with the new Minister. The Government believes in healthy relations with the Centre.'' He said the differences between the Tourism Minister, K. V. Thomas, and the Chairperson of the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation, Padmaja Venugopal, were not unsolvable. Bigger problems had been solved in the Congress. There was more unity in the Congress than differences over various issues.

He said the Government had written to the Chief Justice of the High Court that establishment of a Bench of the Court in Thiruvananthapuram would be beneficial. It helps administrative efficiency of the Government as officials would not have to go to Kochi in connection with Government cases.

Later, at a brief function, the Chief Minister honoured S. Aswathi who had won the third rank in the Civil Services examinations this year, by presenting her a plaque and citation from the Department of Official Languages.
