Speaking after releasing a book "Good Governance - For a better tomorrow,'' authored by party senior and thinktank, Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, the Chief Minister said that the TDP always believed that serving the people alone would fetch votes and that the public look up to the rulers to satisfy their basic needs and hence welcome good governance. In an overt jibe on the Congress, he said that the party relied heavily on tall talk and hollow rhetoric to hoodwink the people in its bid to garner votes. Elaborating on what he meant by the buzzword "Good Governance'', Mr. Naidu said it was all about bringing in corrective steps (read reforms) in the flawed areas, sufficiently motivating the players involved to get tuned to the system and making the atmosphere congenial to let the new system sink in. The State Government was also successful in applying the concept that had started bearing fruit, he noted, citing the case of Singareni Colleries Limited, which has just come out of the red for the first time in 35 years as a result of the reforms. Mr. Naidu pooh-poohed the resistance to reforms, pointing to communist China and the theocratic Gulf, which, according to him, had started embracing the concept after seeing the ground reality that there was no option but to go for it. He also recalled the various awards and kudos showered on the State in the recent past by various national and international agencies, which were all an approval of his reformist governance. ``Evolving a perfect policy and ensuring its prompt implementation till the last man in the State is benefited is my goal,'' he thundered, for which he sought the help of the 6,000 plus delegates at the venue, many of whom were part of the Government in various capacities. The book, which took the case study of the State in providing good governance to the public, terms the concept a "new experience'' in the country. The Minister for Revenue, P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, has written the foreword.
Book authored by boy released
Releasing the book `Bapuji Subhashithalu' written by a seventh standard boy, Paladugu Ramprasanth, the TDP chief said that it was time the party workers drew inspiration from the kid and strived to promote the party policies. The leader appeared moved when the boy told him that his (Mr.Naidu's) enterprise and exercise to make the State "Swarnandhra Pradesh'' encouraged him to write the book.
