DishnetDSL, Tata Tele in Internet pact

MUMBAI MAY 29. The Chennai-based broadband Internet services provider, DishnetDSL Ltd., has signed an agreement with Tata Teleservices Ltd. (TTSL), whereby the ISP will offer broadband Internet connectivity using the Tata group company's existing infrastructure.

"Under the deal, we will provide broadband connectivity to all TTSL subscribers using its existing last mile infrastructure,'' DishnetDSL chief executive officer, V. Srinivasan, told reporters here today. Last mile is the connectivity between the exchanges and users' premises, usually over a conventional copper wire system.

The services priced at Rs. 995 per month, would be sold under the DishnetDSL brand in the country, Mr. Srinivasan said, adding the services would be available in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Delhi.

Under the partnership, DishnetDSL would co-locate its digital subscriber line access multiplexers (DSLAMs) with the local telephone exchanges of TTSL. The Tata group company would initially get 25 per cent of total revenue under the deal. — PTI
