IUML leader offers prayers at Marad mosque

By Our Special Correspondent

KOZHIKODE MAY 29. The IUML secretary and MP, E. Ahmed, today visited Marad, his first visit to the seaside village after the ghastly killing of nine persons there on May 2. Marad is part of Manjeri Lok Sabha constituency which Mr Ahmed represents in the Lok Sabha.

He also offered worship at the Marad mosque which has been taken over by the Government after deadly weapons used in the attack were found hidden there.

Muslim League leaders had been staying clear of the scene of violence to avoid aggravation of the tension which had escalated after the carnage. The Public Works Minister, M.K. Muneer, who has been quietly carrying out peace initiatives at the behest of his party leadership, was the first IUML leader to visit Marad. Mr. Ahmed is only the second IUML leader to visit the scene of the crime.
