BJP has broken myths: Advani

HYDERABAD May 29. The Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, today said the BJP had succeeded in providing political stability in the country. ``This is our biggest achievement,'' he said.

Addressing party workers, he listed the myths broken by the party as only being North-based, urban-oriented, could administer only municipalities, even if being the largest party the Government led by it will not last, its allies will not continue with the BJP and the coalition Government at the Centre will not last.

``The BJP is a cadre-based party and its leaders' objectives are not to promote dynasty, family rule or self-development, but make the country a strong and developed by the year 2020. I am confident that we would emerge `vishwa guru' (super power).'' The NDA Government had provided material prosperity to the people.

He referred to the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee's proposal to link rivers in the country in the next five to 10 years and said this network would result in tremendous development.

Mr. Advani urged the cadres to develop a sense of self-confidence among the people. This confidence would enable the country to find solutions to any problem.

He expressed happiness that the State BJP had enrolled 38,000 active workers and that it had done well during the three-year stewardship of Ch. Ramachandra Reddy, who is to lay down office shortly.

The BJP president, Venkaiah Naidu, ridiculed the Congress for trying to forge alliances with parties led by Ajit Singh and Mulayam Singh Yadav.``The Congress remembers the poor only before the elections, but forgets them later,'' Mr. Naidu said.

The BJP would approach the enusing elections with the slogan `shakthishali bharat ke liye shakthishali BJP'.

Its mission was to win 300 seats in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections and secure two-thirds majority for the NDA.

The Vajpayee Government had achieved tremendous development during its five-year rule. ``We have converted the country to a surplus one from that of shortages. Everything is available on demand.'' The NDA would approach the electorate with stress on good governance and positive mandate.
