`I prayed for wisdom to dawn on YSR'

By Our Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI May 29. The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has said that when he was offering prayers before Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala on Thursday, he prayed to make wisdom dawn on the Opposition leaders especially the CLP leader, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, so that they could give up their adamant attitude and extended a helping hand to the TDP to establish the `Swarnandhrapradesh'-- in the common interest of the people of the State.

"I hope that they will realise their mistakes and have a change of heart to play a positive role," Mr. Naidu said in his closing remarks at the three-day plenary. He said at least their conscience knew what they were doing was wrong or right. He was, however, sceptical whether the Congress leaders would see the ground reality and mend their ways.

Rather unusually Mr. Naidu touched a personal chord in his thanksgiving address.

Mr. Naidu who normally avoids touching personal issues, used the platform to touch a personal chord with his party's rank by narrating how he avoided favouritism and nepotism and also preached only what he followed.

"I get pleasure in hard work. You must know that I cannot give posts and position to all for obvious reasons but I will never let down good workers," he said.
