Sankeshwar urged to join JD(S)

By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE MAY 29. The General Secretary of the State unit of Janata Dal(S), Ramesh Babu, has hailed the Dharwad North MP, Vijay Sankeshwar's decision to quit the BJP.

In a press release issued here, Mr. Babu said Mr. Sankeshwar had taken the decision at the right time. The BJP-led coalition Government at the Centre had sacrificed the interests of farmers of the State by directing the S.M. Krishna Government to release Cauvery waters to Tamil Nadu.

Appealing to Mr. Sankeshwar to join the JD(S) headed by the former Prime Minister and MP, H.D. Deve Gowda, Mr. Babu said that it was the only party which had been fighting for the cause of farmers and the poor. He urged Mr. Sankeshwar to drop his move to float a regional party.
