This Day That Age
Mr. K. Panchapakesan wrote to the Editor: "The resolution of Tirupati-Tirumalai Devasthanam Administration to start a College of Theology is welcomed to all lovers of religion and philosophy who believe in harmony of faiths, as emphasised by Hindu Dharma comprehensively. This fundamental concept of Hindu Dharma is crystallized in the divine art and sculpture of Lord Srinivasa in Tirupati whose archa murthy is a composite of the forms of Mother Durga, Maha Vishnu, and Lord Subrahmanya. It is also exemplified in the unique mode of worship that obtains in the temple which includes Bilva-archana, Thulasi-archana and Kumkuma archana performed every week. Pilgrims, who go to the shrine in thousands to offer worship, are drawn from all sections and classes of the federal polity of Hindu faith that includes Saivism, Vaishnavism, Sakthaism and pure Vedanta, in addition to other minor sects and sub-sects. It is fitting and proper for the T.T. Devasthanam to start a college bearing testimony to the universal teaching of Hindu scriptures, and minister to the cultural and spiritual needs of modern collegians who must be introduced to theological studies."
