Rally planned to protest attack on Santhanam

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI MAY 29. Representatives of all parties, including the AIADMK, trade organisations and residents' associations, have decided to take out a rally and conduct a meeting to protest the attack on V. Santhanam, president of the Federation of Civic and Welfare Associations of Pallavaram. Until the culprits were brought to the book, they would continue to organise similar protests.

A resolution passed at the end of the meeting, held at Pallavaram today, said the rally and meeting would be held on June 7. The meeting held that the assault came as a "big challenge to the residents associations and members of voluntary groups" and that it was totally against the democratic functioning of social organisations".

The recent incidents of violence in Pallavaram area were shocking, the resolution said and added that the assailants should be arrested at the earliest and stringent action taken against them.
