Devotees beware

Sir, __ The time has come for Hindu devotees to be cautious in using `vibhuti' (sacred ash) or vermilion (kumkum) as even these sacred things are being adulterated. `Vibhuti' blended with paper-ash, vermilion powder adulterated with pulverised red brick dust, sandalwood powder mixed with turmeric and ochre tainted with chemicals have entered the shops around temples.

H. Narayanan,
Bangalore
