WASHINGTON: Based on a novel by Elmore Leonard, who penned the original gangster-goes-to-Hollywood tale, the sequel to Get Shorty has John Travolta in talks with MGM and Danny DeVito's Jersey Films about reprising the wisecracking Miami mobster role he played in the 1995 smash comedy. According to Variety, the idea for the sequel, Be Cool, came about when former MGM head Frank Mancuso approached the author at the premiere of Get Shorty and asked if he had any more Chili Palmer stories in the works. The sequel will pick up with Palmer, now a Hollywood producer. Paramount also hopes to reunite Travolta, Olivia Newton-John and the rest of the T-Birds and Pink Ladies in a potential next-generation sequel to Grease. ANI
