Tennis
By Our Special Correspondent
Though Ankita Bhambri won the Masters title in the ITF women's tennis circuit, it was Liza Pereira who walked away with the maximum booty. Liza collected $2,075 for her effort in the circuit that offered $20,000 in total prize money. With a conversion rate of 48.37 Rupees per dollar, and a tax deduction of 2.1 per cent, it was indeed a decent collection for most of the players who competed in the circuit. Liza won Rs. 1,00,367 in prize money, and had to pay a tax of Rs. 2,107. Not a bad deal indeed, in a circuit, which had a token foreign participation of two players. The leading prize money winners: Liza Pereira ($2,075); Ankita Bhambri ($1,892.5); Isha Lakhani ($1,887.5); Shruti Dhawan ($1,625); Sonal Phadke ($1,325); Archana Venkataraman ($1,125); Sheethal Goutham ($1,125); Kamini Murugaboopathy ($725); Preeti Rao ($725); Madura Ranganathan ($687.5); Yamini Thukkaiandi ($550); Jung-Yoon Shin (Kor) ($550); Anupama Rajur ($487.5); Ragini Vimal ($450); Chirashanti Rajur ($437.5); Iciri Rai ($425); Sandhya Nagaraj ($412.5); Lata Asudani ($387.5); Rati Kumar ($337.5); Priyanka Parekh ($275); Parul Goswami ($250) and Vishika Chhetri ($250).
