According to sources, a police team was patrolling the area on receiving information th)ountered a three-member gang of Praja Prathighatana. Despite warnings from the police, the naxals fired at them. In retaliation, the police opened fire in which two naxals were killed. Though the police are yet to identify the victims, the two were said to be Swamy, deputy commander, and Rajaiah, member of the squad. They belonged to Kaluva Srirampur of Karimanagar district. The police recovered one double barrel gun and .8mm rifle from the spot. In a statement, the Superintendent of Police, Nalin Prabhat, said the armed gangs which were out to extort public, will have no place in the district and they should surrender to the police.
