1 year-RI for misappropriation

Pondicherry May 30. The Judicial Magistrate-II Isvarane today sentenced T. N. Bharani Kumar, a clerk-cum-cashier in a hotel to undergo one year rigorous imprisonment, to pay a fine of Rs. 2000 on each count in default to undergo four months simple imprisonment and three months RI on each count under sections 465 and 471 IPC for misappropriation of funds.

Stating this in a communication today the Superintendent of Police (CID), Firoze Zia Hussain, said that the sentences would run concurrently.

The SP said that in April 1996 a complaint was lodged with the CID wing of the Police by Arun Baroka the then Managing Director of Hotel Pondicherry Ashok at Kalapet near here that Bharani Kumar had `misappropriated prior to January 1996 Rs. 2.75 lakhs belonging to the hotel by forging documents and falsification of accounts`.
