Police custody for 2 Dawood gang members

Mumbai May 30. Riyaz Siddiqui and Rajkumar Sharma, alleged members of Dawood Ibrahim's gang, who were deported from Dubai last night, were today produced before a city magistrate who remanded them to police custody till June 13.

The two were arrested by the Mumbai police on arrival at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport at 10.05 p.m. yesterday.

Crime Branch officials claimed that both the gangsters were close associates of the underworld don. They had fled to Dubai and helped Dawood in managing the underworld operations. Both were wanted in cases of murder, attempt to murder and other serious crimes. Various courts in Mumbai had issued red corner notices against them and these were handed over to Interpol.

Two held in U.P.

Meanwhile, Mohd Arif and Mohd Nassem, suspected agents for Dawood Ibrahim, have been arrested in Lucknow.

During interrogation, the two who were arrested last night revealed that they had kidnapped an M-Tech student of Lucknow Institute for ransom in January last year, but he had escaped from their captivity. The duo was arrested on the information provided by Shadab, who was arrested in Agra a day before. — PTI
