Mahanadu revolves around NTR

By Our Staff Reporter

TIRUPATI May 30. It was Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao all over.

The TDP's Mahanadu, which was markedly Chandrababu-centric on the political side, was however focussed on the party founder and thespian, Late NTR, as apart from party seniors and sworn disciples of NTR, even the TDP chief was unusually found chanting the "NTR mantra'' scores of times.

All the roads leading to the venue had huge cut-outs of Rama Rao, equal in number with those of Mr. Naidu.

Prominent among the cut-outs were one with Mr. Chandrababu Naidu and his father-in-law standing side by side and another with NTR standing as Lord Krishna with the image of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu in his heart, which, obviously, were aimed at nullifying the impact of the scar, the "great coup'' had left on Mr. Naidu.

It was a trip down the memory lane for party enthusiasts and the thespian's fans. Rare photographs of NTR as a hero in various films as well as those taken after he stepped into politics, which were carefully collected by the legislator, Sripathi Rajeshwar, were on display at the photo exhibition set up at the venue. Be it cell-totting urban workers or rustic sympathisers, a visit to the expo was customary for all.

Also, a person dressed in saffron like NTR, who normally attends all such party programmes, did attend this conclave, much to the cheer of old timers. He was seen waving to the crowd and to those on the dais, drawing compliments for his imitation.
