The Congress Legislature Party leader, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, avoided a question if he was confident of becoming Chief Minister if his party gained power in the next elections. When this question was put to him at a press conference here on Friday, Dr. Reddy said that any one in the Congress could become Chief Minister and he was only trying to create confidence in people that good things could be done under the leadership of the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi. Asked what would follow his Praja Prasthanam, he said that his padayatra was not a political exercise but was taken up to bring the Government's attention to the severe drought that was prevailing in the State. "I hope and pray to God that rain should start pouring in the second week of June and bring an end to the drought. This is not the time to think about politics'', he said. Asked to comment on the statement of the Congress leader, Mysoora Reddy, that a separate Rayalaseema would be sought if the demand for Telangana State was accepted, the CLP chief said that the statement was made by Dr. Mysoora Reddy in his individual capacity "and so I cannot comment on it.''
