Unaccounted cash seized at checkpost

HYDERABAD May 30. An amount of Rs. 17,050 unaccounted cash was seized from the staff manning at the Integrated Check-Post at Bheemunivaripalem of Thada in Nellore district on Tuesday during a surprise check by the sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau.

It was noticed that bribes ranging from Rs. 50 to Rs. 500 were being collected by the staff manning Transport and Commercial Taxes wings from vehicle drivers passing through the checkpost, according to a press release.

The ACB officials seized Rs. 360 and Rs. 960 from B. Ramakrishna Reddy, an Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector on duty and A. Ramanaiah, an attender of Commercial Taxes wing, respectively. An amount of Rs. 2,100 thrown away in a dormitory by CT staff was also seized.
