The city police yesterday arrested two persons here with `prospective bribe' worth over Rs. 10 lakhs. Police said a class IV employee attached to the basic education officer of Basti district and a close kin of Minister of State for Primary Education Ramachal Rajbhar were arrested from a Park Road hotel here with a bag containing Rs. 10 lakhs. The two were under the custody of the Income Tax department. They also recovered several letters addressed to the minister and some officials over the transfers of certain officials and appointment of `Shiksha Mitras' - who work as primary teachers on contract basis for government schools. On interrogation, they claimed the money was to be passed over to the BSP quota Minister of State and officials over the transfer of one official, identified as Ramesh Singh. They informed that the official himself would reach here tomorrow to finalise the deal. The two were caught during a routine checking of hotels by the area police. -- UNI
