Addressing a seminar on `Media Tools, Literature and Language' here on the occasion of Hindi Journalism Day today, Mr. Shastri said no one should be allowed to fiddle with any language. He regretted that talented individuals, even from the middle and the lower classes, were turning their backs to Hindi because the English language had been publicised as ``employment-oriented'' and as a result, the new generation was oblivious of the puristic use of Hindi. The Governor, who is well-known for his love for the language, called upon editors, journalists and Hindi lovers to oppose the use of such ``disfigured'' form of Hindi and stressed upon the need to enrich the language with new vocabulory in wake of continuous scientific advancements. U.P. Vidhan Sabha Speaker and Hindi litterateur Keshrinath Tripathi said like other languages there was difference between the written and colloquial form of Hindi, which the media sometimes ignored. He said language was related to culture and a deformity in the language eventually led to decay of the culture. -- UNI
