Corpn. notice to builder

CHENNAI May 30. The Chennai Corporation has issued a notice under Section 258 (Precautions in case of dangerous structures) of the Chennai City Municipal Corporation Act, 1919, to Shanti Builders, the promoters of the multi-storeyed apartment in CIT Colony, Mylapore, that developed cracks in one of its pillars recently, the Corporation Commissioner, M.P. Vijayakumar, said today.

Responding to queries of the councillors at the council meeting today on what action had been taken by the civic agency, Mr.Vijayakumar informed the council that the notice had been served on the builder.

The Public Works Department and the police department were also investigating the matter, he said and added, "whoever has committed a mistake will definitely be punished".
