Passers-by found them lying there, covered in a cloth. They alerted the police immediately, who, in turn, informed the officials of the department concerned. The twins are active, but one of them is suffering from a breathing problem. The officials concerned took the babies for a preliminary check-up to Sirguppa hospital, where they were breast-fed. They were then shifted to the Women and Child Hospital, a wing of the Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS). The twins will be taken to Bangalore to be admitted to a children's home run by the Government, according to reports. A few people were disappointed when the officials did not heed to their request of handing over the babies to them. The officials were reported to have said that it was not allowed under the law.
