The Indian lad had a series of 99, 97, 98, 98, 100 and 100 in the preliminary phase and a 9.5, 9.8, 10.5, 10.4, 10.2, 10.8, 10.3, 10.1, 10.2 and 9.9 sequence in the final. It was a creditable effort by Gagan, as he pipped Tino Mohaupt of Germany by 0.6 points after the latter had shot a 593 in the qualifying series. ``The Indian air rifle team also got a gold'', said the national coach Prof. Sunny Thomas, who had been informed of the happy tiding from Suhl by the officials. Gagan's teammates Imran Khan and Sandeep Tarate finished ninth and joint 11th respectively with scores of 590 and 588 respectively. Imran had a series of 97, 98, 98, 99, 100 and 98 and missed the final on the count back. In double trap, Asab Ali shot rounds of 26, 35, 28 and a 36 in the final to end up sixth with a 125. The gold went to Germain Herbert of France who scored a 161. In the women's sport pistol event, Annuraj Singh and Shweta Chaudhary did well to take the fifth and seventh spots respectively. Both had identical preliminary scores of 561. Annuraj shot a 96.0 in the final and had a 47 to 46 in the shoot-off as she pipped Inga Zajons of Germany to the fifth slot. Shweta had a 93.0 in the final for a total of 656. Sandra Stankiewicz of Poland took the gold with a total of 669.0.
