Speaking at the district consultative committee meeting of bankers yesterday, he asked the bankers to identify the women SHGs for financial assistance as 24,000 groups were already functioning in the district. He also asked the bankers to issue individual loans to 800 persons, loans to 150 groups and revolving fund to another 500 SHGs under SGSY. Meetings for the branch managers of various banks would be conducted under Velugu project from June 6 to 11. On micro irrigation, the Collector said that they had identified 1.30 lakh agriculture wells and borewells in the district belonging to 55,000 farmers. He asked the bankers to provide loans for drip and sprinkler facilities for 84,000 acres under irrigation by the wells. The meeting resolved to request the Government to extend the date for crop insurance coverage to the farmers who would avail of bank loans till September 30 as was done last year. The AGM of NABARD, R.V.R.C. Dinamani, suggested that the bankers utilise the deposits mobilised in the district for development of the district only. The Project Director of DRDA, Samuel Anand Kumar, the Regional Manager of Syndicate Bank, Raghurama Rao, the Lead District Manager, Laxminarayana, the AGM of RBI, Rajeswara Rao, and others participated.
