By Our Staff Reporter

JAMMU MAY 31. The National Conference president and former Minister of State for External Affairs, Omar Abdullah today said the ongoing Indo-Pak talks were crucial for providing a solution to the problems of the State.

Addressing an NC student unit rally here, he said: "The talks are in the right direction and with a sincerity of approach. ... a realistic solution would not be far away. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have a lot at stake in the success of the talks as it would provide them relief from the years of violence," he said.

Commenting on the ongoing Congress Chief Minister's conclave in Kashmir, he said: This is a positive development as they (the CMs) would get to know the situation prevailing there.'' Referring to the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi's statement on providing reservation to the students in Congress-ruled States, he said: "The reservation should be made permanent irrespective of who is ruling the States."
